Yesterday, at 8 pm for French time, a new President has been elected by the French people. Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy stated that his main combat would be for environment and against climate change. This is indeed good news.

Third part of AR4 released

The International Panel on Climate Change ( IPCC ) released the third Summary for Policy-makers of their Fourth Assessment Report. It is available there. I haven’t read it yet but will do a article I will publish on Monday.

574.8 kph !

This is the speed achieved today by the French Train à Grande Vitesse (high speed train) hence breaking the previous world record of 515 kph dated from 1990. This world record is interesting as train is releasing much less greenhouse gases than planes.

Second volume of IPCC report to be published on friday

The climate change reports by the IPCC experts are made of three parts. After the release of the first part of the fourth report that was published in January, the second one is due for Friday. This section will be handling the “impacts, adaptation and vulnerability” due to climate change.
